Rationale
Here is my rationale on the plans for my music video. Rationales are documents are used to help consider all the elements and steps into creating a piece of work.
Mind Map & Mood Board
I created a mind map to display my ideas for the first time in a written method as this gives people an idea of what I want to achieve with my video before I present my pitch. I have showcased multiple sections which will be important for the video including locations, equipment and editing style. This has helped me to consolidate my ideas into a clearer vision for my pitch.
For my mood board, I used photos of angles (taking inspiration from the music videos that I analysed), locations and props I would like to use. I have also displayed types of fonts and a possible colour palette that I could use. I have included Instagram as the first shot I want is for the main character to be looking at his girlfriend's profile. I have also included the idea of text bubbles as I think this could be a good way of showing dialogue without it feeling out of place.
Initial Student questionnaire
I created a short questionnaire for the other students in my class to fill out. I briefly explained my idea and wanted to get opinions on it as well as see if anyone would be willing to help contribute. 75% thought my idea would work which gives me a bit more confidence with my idea and 4 people said they would help with the production. This means I will have to find some actors outside of college but I was expecting this anyway.
Presentation Pitch
For my pitch, I created a presentation as well as a matching set of note cards to help me explain my vision. I thought overall the pitch went really well, my best piece of presenting I have done over the last 2 years and I think the notes definitely helped to keep me on track and not forget anything. I had added a slide show of the presentation below if you want to see the slides in more detail, sadly Webnode changes the aspect ratio so parts of the slides are cut off. FMP Schedule
Ideal Schedule
In class today, we made a schedule of our ideal plan for the project and I do expect that I will be able to keep to this schedule. The only problem I can see being is that the pre-production takes place over the 2 weeks in half term so I will try and spend some time doing some of that and then the week after we get back to do that, maybe starting production to some extent.
After a discussion with Paul, I found out the dates I was given for the template was wrong so here is the corrected version with less time on research before produciton.
Storyboard & Shot List
These 2 pieces of pre-production go hand in hand together and are used to plan the sequence of shots within the production. The storyboard is a lot of drawings of the shots whereas the shot list is a written version which can be used as more of a checklist. I have decided to add the shot list to the storyboard to save time. I draw it in my notepad as I plan to bring it when filming which allows me to have all my notes if needed.
Call Sheet
Call sheets are documents created before production and are sent out to the cast and crew outlining the plans for that day including filming and breaks and who is needed when. I initially created mine for Friday 29th April however I found out I am going to a wedding that day and I won't have enough time to film enough before. I have decided to postpone filming to the Friday after (06/05/22) so that we can film everything in one day. Here is a copy of the final call sheet as the only difference was the date.
Location Recces
A recce is a document which basically shows a location you have scouted out for filming. I carried this out for all 5 locations I plan on filming in.
Risk Assessments
These are documents that show all the risks that are present with filming in the location. I have put safety measures in place to make sure everyone and the equipment is safe. In a real life scenario if an accident happened it would likely protect me as I it shows I have plans in place for the hazards.
